Teaching from Tawau

Applying from Tawau or elsewhere in Tawau? The role is identical across Sabah, and your town simply goes into your WhatsApp message.

Tawau grew up as a plantation town and is still known as the cocoa capital of the region, a heritage recorded at the Teck Guan Cocoa Museum on the edge of the town. Behind it rise the forested slopes of Tawau Hills Park, gazetted to protect the district's water catchment, with Bombalai Hill and the twin peaks of Gunung Magdalena and Gunung Lucia, while nearer the coast the wartime fort atop Bukit Gemok looks out over the town and the sea toward the Indonesian border.

In a large, mixed class it is easy for one shaky topic to slip past unnoticed.

From Tawau, the only tools you need are a laptop or tablet, a camera and a pen for worked examples. We share questions and notes on screen during the lesson.

The work

You teach one student at a time, so every lesson is built around what that student needs next. Expect mole calculations one week and Paper 3 practical answers the next.

School holidays and the months before SPM tend to be busier. If you can offer extra hours then, say so, and keep a lighter load the rest of the year.

A typical lesson mixes concept teaching with exam questions, taught in English over video. Because it is one to one, you can slow down or speed up for the student in front of you.

You might teach two evenings a week, or most weekday afternoons; both work. Put your real availability in the application so lessons fit your life.
