Teach SPM Chemistry online from Kunak

Teaching from Kunak

Kunak sits in the Kunak district of Sabah. Teachers living anywhere in the district, or elsewhere in Sabah, are welcome to apply.

Kunak is a quiet plantation town, but the land around it holds one of Sabah's most remarkable places. A short way from the town lie the Madai Caves, sacred to the Idahan people, who for many generations have held custodianship of the caves and harvested the swiftlet nests prized for bird's-nest soup, a tradition that turns into a community event at harvest time.

The district's economy runs on oil palm and cocoa, and the town looks out toward the same Darvel Bay coast as its larger neighbours. In a full classroom a single shaky topic can slip past unremarked for weeks.

A teacher in Kunak can have a student in Kuching on Monday and one in Johor Bahru on Wednesday. Online teaching takes the map out of the timetable.

The work

The teaching is focused: SPM Chemistry for Form 4 and 5, one student per lesson, in English. You bring the explanations and exam know-how, and we bring the students.

You might teach two evenings a week, or most weekday afternoons; both work. Put your real availability in the application so lessons fit your life.

A typical lesson mixes concept teaching with exam questions, taught in English over video. Because it is one to one, you can slow down or speed up for the student in front of you.

Evenings and weekends are when most students want lessons, which suits teachers with a day job. If you have daytime slots too, mention them.
