If you teach SPM Chemistry and live in Kota Kinabalu, you can teach our students one to one from home. The role is freelance and part-time, with pay from RM50/hr depending on your experience and availability.

Teaching from Kota Kinabalu

This posting covers Kota Kinabalu and the surrounding Kota Kinabalu district in Sabah. If you live nearby but not in Kota Kinabalu itself, apply anyway and tell us your town.

Kota Kinabalu, KK to everyone who lives there, sits on the Sabah coast in the shadow of Mount Kinabalu, South-East Asia's towering peak, after which the city was renamed in 1967. Once the colonial town of Jesselton, it keeps landmarks like the Atkinson Clock Tower and Signal Hill, while the modern city gathers along the KK Waterfront and around Gaya Street, with the Sabah Foundation Building rising over Likas Bay.

Evening traffic on the busy Lintas and Penampang corridors can turn a short trip into a long one. Kota Kinabalu is one of Malaysia's most diverse cities, home to Kadazan-Dusun, Bajau, Malay, Chinese and many other communities.

In large, mixed classes it is easy for a single shaky topic to slip past unnoticed.

Because lessons run online, your location in Kota Kinabalu only matters for one thing: a quiet room and a steady connection. Everything else, from notes to past-year questions, is shared on screen.

The work

Each lesson is one teacher and one Form 4 or 5 student, working through the KSSM Chemistry syllabus and SPM exam technique. Lessons are taught in English, the language our students sit the paper in.

You tell us the hours you can teach, and we plan lessons inside them. Many of our teachers fit lessons around school hours, family time or other work.

Our students are Form 4 and 5 candidates preparing for SPM Chemistry, and every lesson is one to one. You explain, they try, and you correct in the moment, all in English.

What we look for

  • Experience teaching SPM / KSSM Chemistry
  • Familiarity with the current syllabus (SPM 4541) and Papers 1, 2 and 3
  • Clear English, the language of our lessons
  • A quiet space, a reliable connection and a device with a camera

How to apply
