Teach SPM Chemistry online from Sibu

Teaching from Sibu

Sibu sits in the Sibu district of Sarawak. Teachers living anywhere in the district, or elsewhere in Sarawak, are welcome to apply.

Sibu sits at the meeting of the Rajang and Igan rivers, the busy inland port often called the gateway to central Sarawak. Its symbol is the swan, and the Sibu Gateway swan statue by the water is a familiar landmark, as is the Tua Pek Kong temple with its seven-storey pagoda looking out over the Rajang.

Sarawak is Malaysia’s largest state, spread along the Borneo coast from Kuching to Sibu, Bintulu and Miri.

Teachers in Sibu often tell us the hardest part of private tuition is the travel between homes. With us that disappears, since each lesson is online and one to one.

Living in Sibu is no obstacle, because every lesson happens over video. You teach from your own desk, and the student joins from theirs, wherever they are in Malaysia.

The work

A typical lesson mixes concept teaching with exam questions, taught in English over video. Because it is one to one, you can slow down or speed up for the student in front of you.

The timetable is built around the slots you give us, not the other way round. Change in your circumstances later? Tell us on WhatsApp and we adjust.

Each lesson is one teacher and one Form 4 or 5 student, working through the KSSM Chemistry syllabus and SPM exam technique. Lessons are taught in English, the language our students sit the paper in.

Evenings and weekends are when most students want lessons, which suits teachers with a day job. If you have daytime slots too, mention them.
