Teach SPM Chemistry online from Bukit Mertajam

Teaching from Bukit Mertajam

Bukit Mertajam sits in the Seberang Perai Tengah district of Pulau Pinang. Teachers living anywhere in the district, or elsewhere in Pulau Pinang, are welcome to apply.

Bukit Mertajam, BM, as everyone calls it, sits at the foot of the forested hill of the same name, with Cherok Tokun rising to its east. On the hill's lower slopes stands the Church of St Anne, one of the largest church complexes in the country, whose annual St Anne's Feast is among the biggest Catholic pilgrimages in the world, drawing tens of thousands of visitors to the town each year.

In the same grounds is the Cherok Tokun megalith, an inscribed stone bearing ancient Pali writing and recognised as the only ancient megalith in Penang.

Living in Bukit Mertajam is no obstacle, because every lesson happens over video. You teach from your own desk, and the student joins from theirs, wherever they are in Malaysia.

The work

You teach one student at a time, so every lesson is built around what that student needs next. Expect mole calculations one week and Paper 3 practical answers the next.

There is no minimum timetable set on this page; your availability shapes the work. Tell us your days and times, and we take it from there on WhatsApp.

Each lesson is one teacher and one Form 4 or 5 student, working through the KSSM Chemistry syllabus and SPM exam technique. Lessons are taught in English, the language our students sit the paper in.

School holidays and the months before SPM tend to be busier. If you can offer extra hours then, say so, and keep a lighter load the rest of the year.
