Teach SPM Chemistry online from Mersing

Teaching from Mersing

Mersing sits in the Mersing district of Johor. Teachers living anywhere in the district, or elsewhere in Johor, are welcome to apply.

Mersing is a fishing town first, and its harbour is the heart of it. The Mersing jetty is where the day begins and ends, trawlers unloading their catch, ferries filling with travellers, and the seafood stalls along the waterfront that the town is known for.

Johor is Malaysia’s southern gateway, from Johor Bahru on the Singapore border to the towns of Muar, Batu Pahat and Kluang.

Living in Mersing is no obstacle, because every lesson happens over video. You teach from your own desk, and the student joins from theirs, wherever they are in Malaysia.

There is no centre to travel to and no fixed classroom in Mersing. Your commute is the walk to your laptop, which leaves more of your time for teaching itself.

The work

Students come to us for help with the hard parts of SPM Chemistry: the mole, electrochemistry, organic chemistry and Paper 3 practicals. You teach those ideas in English, at the pace one student needs.

You might teach two evenings a week, or most weekday afternoons; both work. Put your real availability in the application so lessons fit your life.

Our students are Form 4 and 5 candidates preparing for SPM Chemistry, and every lesson is one to one. You explain, they try, and you correct in the moment, all in English.

Freelance means you stay in control of your week. You can grow your hours as you settle in, or keep them light during busy school terms.
