Alor Setar is the administrative and royal capital of Kedah, and its skyline is easy to name: the slender Menara Alor Setar rising above the city, the Moorish domes of Masjid Zahir, the state mosque, and the small royal Balai Nobat that houses the ceremonial instruments. Around the city stretch the flat green paddy plains that earn Kedah its name as the rice bowl of Malaysia.

Kedah, the “rice bowl” of Malaysia, runs from Alor Setar and Sungai Petani to Langkawi and the Perlis border.

You can be based anywhere in Alor Setar and still teach a full timetable of students. Online lessons mean your students may be in another state entirely.
