Chemistry help in Malaysia’s southern gateway
Johor Bahru is the country’s southern gateway, joined to Singapore by the Johor–Singapore Causeway, one of the busiest land crossings in the world. Its landmarks tell the city’s story: the Sultan Abu Bakar State Mosque above the strait, the royal Istana Besar, and the historic Sultan Ibrahim Building on the hill.
But JB is also defined by the Causeway itself, by the daily tide of people who live in Johor and work or study across the water, and by families whose rhythm is set by Singapore hours. For a secondary student here, time is genuinely tight.
Swap the commute for a slot that fits your household
In a city already shaped by long crossings and heavy traffic on the Tebrau and Skudai corridors, adding an in-person tuition run to the evening is a real cost. Online one-to-one lessons remove it.
A student in the JB city centre, Taman Pelangi, Skudai, Tebrau or Permas Jaya joins an experienced SPM Chemistry teacher from home, at a fixed weekly time that can sit around a parent’s cross-border schedule. The whole hour goes into Chemistry, and because the lesson is one to one it bends around a single student, pausing on the topic that will not click, moving briskly past what is already secure, in a way a full class cannot.
Who our Johor Bahru students are
JB has one of the most varied school landscapes in the south. Alongside national secondary schools (SMK) and national-type Chinese schools (SMJK), the city has a strong Chinese-medium tradition, including long-established independent high schools, Foon Yew being the best known.
Home languages span Malay, Mandarin, English and Tamil, and many students carry the extra pressure of aiming high with an eye across the border. Whatever the school, the paper is the same: SPM Chemistry, subject code 4541, examined in English.
We teach in English, the language of the exam, while keeping the Malay and Mandarin terms a student already knows within reach, so an idea such as a mole, an electrolyte or an exothermic reaction is understood from either side and written down correctly under time.
How the lessons work
Every session is anchored to the KSSM syllabus and DSKP content standards the school teaches, so our lessons reinforce classwork. We prepare all three papers: the objective questions of Paper 1, the structured and extended answers of Paper 2, and the practical assessment of Paper 3, where we coach planning a fair test, tabulating readings, plotting graphs and drawing conclusions the data supports.
Because Chemistry builds on itself, a one-to-one teacher can go back to a weak early topic, chemical formulae, the mole concept, acids and bases, and repair it while keeping pace with current work, then move toward timed practice and precise marking-scheme wording as SPM nears.
Every lesson is taught by one of our own experienced SPM Chemistry teachers. A new student begins with a paid one-hour trial, and regular lessons run from RM50 an hour in a fixed weekly slot.
If you are a parent or a Form 4 or Form 5 student anywhere in Johor Bahru, send us a WhatsApp message with the school, the current grade and the topics that feel hardest, and we will suggest where a first lesson should start.
