Shah Alam became the capital of Selangor in 1974 and was Malaysia's first fully planned city built after independence. Its best-known landmark is the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, the Blue Mosque, whose blue-and-silver dome and four tall minarets make it the largest mosque in the country.

The city is also a working one: home to UiTM, one of Malaysia's largest universities, and to industrial parks in areas such as Section 23, Glenmarie and Hicom that have long anchored Selangor's automotive and manufacturing base. Home languages are led by Malay, with English, Mandarin and Tamil also present.

You can be based anywhere in Shah Alam and still teach a full timetable of students. Online lessons mean your students may be in another state entirely.

The work

Students come to us for help with the hard parts of SPM Chemistry: the mole, electrochemistry, organic chemistry and Paper 3 practicals. You teach those ideas in English, at the pace one student needs.

School holidays and the months before SPM tend to be busier. If you can offer extra hours then, say so, and keep a lighter load the rest of the year.

The teaching is focused: SPM Chemistry for Form 4 and 5, one student per lesson, in English. You bring the explanations and exam know-how, and we bring the students.

Evenings and weekends are when most students want lessons, which suits teachers with a day job. If you have daytime slots too, mention them.
