We teach online one-to-one SPM Chemistry lessons in English for students in Miri, Sarawak, from RM50 an hour after a paid one-hour trial. Lessons follow KSSM and DSKP, and being on the far side of Borneo is no barrier.
We are an independent online tutoring service offering one-to-one SPM Chemistry lessons to students in Miri, the northern coastal city of Sarawak. Our teachers work with one student at a time, in English, following the KSSM curriculum and the DSKP content standards, and lessons run from RM50 an hour after a paid one-hour trial.
Because everything happens over the screen, the lesson reaches a student wherever they live in the city, from the town centre out to Krokop, Lutong, Piasau or Senadin.
Miri is the city oil built. On Canada Hill stands the Grand Old Lady, the country’s first oil well, where oil was struck in December 1910 and turned a small fishing settlement into an industrial town; the derrick and the neighbouring Petroleum Museum look out over the coastline today.
Chemistry is not an abstract subject in a place like this, where petroleum, refining and gas run through daily life. Yet come Form 4 and Form 5, the task facing a Miri student is exactly what it is everywhere in Malaysia: turning that interest into marks on the SPM Chemistry paper.
Online one-to-one matters especially here. Miri sits at the far north of Sarawak, close to the Brunei border and a long way from the peninsula, and specialist SPM Chemistry help can be harder to arrange than in the big west-coast cities.
An online lesson erases the distance at a stroke. There is no drive across a spread-out city after school and no flight to reach an experienced teacher; the whole hour is Chemistry, at a desk at home, and the sea between Borneo and the peninsula simply stops mattering.
Miri’s SPM students come from a broad mix of schools, national secondary schools (SMK), national-type Chinese secondary schools (SMJK) and long-established mission schools, and grow up among Malay, Chinese, Iban, Kelabit and other Orang Ulu communities, studying across Malay, English and Chinese. That range is a real strength, but it also means classes are large and one student’s particular weak spots can slip past unnoticed.
A one-to-one lesson puts the focus back on the individual: the teacher works at that student’s pace, finds where the marks are actually being lost, the mole concept, electrochemistry, acids and salts, or organic chemistry, and spends the hour precisely there.
We teach in English to match the SPM Chemistry paper (subject code 4541), while supporting the Malay and Chinese terms a Miri student already carries from the classroom. We cover Paper 1, Paper 2 and the Paper 3 practical, rehearsing variables, tables, graphs and marking-scheme conclusions directly, so nothing is met for the first time in the exam hall.
Every lesson is taught by one of our own experienced SPM Chemistry teachers.
