Form 5 Chemistry, subject code 4541, is five chapters: Redox Equilibrium, Carbon Compounds, Thermochemistry, Polymers, and Consumer and Industrial Chemistry. Carbon Compounds is the giant, and it is where many Kuching students quietly lose ground.
A whole organic vocabulary arrives at once: the homologous series of alkanes, alkenes, alcohols and carboxylic acids, their nomenclature and isomers, and the specific reactions and conditions that turn one into another. Paper 2 asks for exact structural formulae and named reagents, and a nearly-right answer is often no answer at all.
