We are an independent online tutoring service offering one-to-one SPM Chemistry lessons to students in Kota Samarahan, in the Kota Samarahan district of Sarawak, just east of Kuching. Kota Samarahan is Sarawak’s town of learning, locals call it Kota Ilmu, the town of knowledge. It grew up around Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), the state’s flagship university, and around it sit further campuses, the Sarawak Heart Centre and newer commercial anchors such as Summer Mall and La Promenade.
A young person here is surrounded by higher education, yet Form 4 and Form 5 still come down to the same thing as everywhere in Malaysia: turning study into marks on the SPM Chemistry paper, a school-level task that a university town does not automatically solve.
Online one-to-one fits this place well. A township built around universities is not the same as one well served by school-level SPM tutors, and the usual answer, a drive back into Kuching for a specialist centre, forty minutes each way, costs a family real time after a full school day.

The SPM students here come mainly from national secondary schools (SMK) serving the township and the surrounding kampungs, with some from families connected to the campuses, in a mix of Malay, Iban, Bidayuh and Chinese backgrounds. That academically minded setting raises expectations, but a full classroom still cannot pause on each student’s exact difficulty, and one shaky early topic quietly makes later chapters harder.
One-to-one lessons put the focus back on the individual: the teacher works at one student’s pace, finds where the marks are actually being lost, the mole concept, electrochemistry, acids and salts, rate of reaction, organic chemistry, and concentrates the hour there.
We teach in English to match the SPM Chemistry paper (subject code 4541), while supporting the Malay and Chinese terms a Samarahan student already uses, so nothing is lost in translation. We cover Paper 1, Paper 2 and the Paper 3 practical, rehearsing variables, tables, graphs and marking-scheme conclusions directly on paper and screen, so none of it is met for the first time in the exam hall.
Lessons are booked on weekday evenings or weekends around a student’s real timetable. Every lesson is taught by one of our own experienced SPM Chemistry teachers.
