Few towns in Malaysia are shaped by a river the way Kapit is. It stands on the south bank of the Rajang, the country’s longest river, watched over by Fort Sylvia, the belian-wood fort first raised in the 1880s and later named after Rani Sylvia Brooke.
For generations Kapit could be reached only by the express boats that thread up from Sibu, a little over two hours on the water, or by light aircraft, and it remains the commercial and social heart for the longhouse communities and timber camps of the middle Rajang. A road from Sibu finally opened in 2021, but the river still defines daily life here.

We teach in English to match the SPM Chemistry paper (subject code 4541), while supporting the Malay terms a Kapit student already uses, so understanding is never lost in translation. We cover Paper 1, Paper 2 and the Paper 3 practical, rehearsing variables, tables, graphs and the exact conclusions a marking scheme rewards, so nothing is met for the first time in the exam hall.
