What the Form 4 year asks of you
Form 4 is the foundation year of the SPM Chemistry course, subject code 4541, and it is where the reasoning habits of the whole subject are formed. Its eight chapters run from Introduction to Chemistry and Matter and the Atomic Structure, through The Mole Concept with Chemical Formulae and Equations, The Periodic Table of Elements and Chemical Bond, into Acids, Bases and Salts, Rate of Reaction, and Manufactured Substances in Industry.
Rate of Reaction is a chapter many Ipoh students find deceptively hard: collision theory, and the way concentration, temperature, surface area and a catalyst each change how often particles collide with enough energy, reward understanding rather than memorising. Manufactured Substances in Industry then asks you to apply that thinking to real processes.
Underneath both sits the mole work from earlier in the year, which has to be secure.
How our Form 4 lessons work
One-to-one teaching means the lesson follows one student, not a class average. We keep step with what the Ipoh school is teaching now, then go back to strengthen whatever is shaky, an unbalanced equation, a rate graph read the wrong way.
Sessions are anchored to the DSKP content standards, and we build exam habits from the start: clean working, correct units, and answers written to match what a question asks. We introduce the Paper 1 and Paper 2 styles through the year and begin the science process skills Paper 3 tests, so Form 5 brings no surprises.
