We are an independent online tuition service offering one-to-one SPM Chemistry lessons to students who live in Bukit Mertajam, a busy town in the district of Seberang Perai Tengah on the Penang mainland. A town beneath the hill

Bukit Mertajam, BM, as everyone calls it, sits at the foot of the forested hill of the same name, with Cherok Tokun rising to its east. On the hill’s lower slopes stands the Church of St Anne, one of the largest church complexes in the country, whose annual St Anne’s Feast is among the biggest Catholic pilgrimages in the world, drawing tens of thousands of visitors to the town each year.

In the same grounds is the Cherok Tokun megalith, an inscribed stone bearing ancient Pali writing and recognised as the only ancient megalith in Penang. Below all this the town itself is a dense, long-established commercial centre, one of the busiest on the mainland, its streets crowded with shops, schools and evening traffic.

BM is compact and always busy, and getting a child across town to a tuition centre in the evening means threading through congested streets and looking for parking after a full school day. Online one-to-one lessons take the trip out entirely.

We teach in English, the language of the exam, while keeping the Chinese and Malay terms a student already uses within reach, so an idea such as a mole, an electrolyte or an exothermic reaction is understood from any side and written correctly under time.

How the lessons work

Every session is anchored to the KSSM syllabus and DSKP content standards the school teaches, so our lessons reinforce classwork rather than compete with it. We prepare all three papers: the objective questions of Paper 1, the structured and extended answers of Paper 2, and the practical assessment of Paper 3, where we coach planning a fair test, tabulating readings, plotting graphs and drawing conclusions the data supports.

Because Chemistry builds on itself, a one-to-one teacher can return to a weak early topic, the mole concept, salts, electrochemistry, and repair it while keeping pace with current work, then move toward timed practice and precise marking-scheme wording as SPM nears.
