We provide online one-to-one SPM Chemistry lessons for students in Balik Pulau, Pulau Pinang, taught in English with bilingual term support, from RM50 an hour.
We are an independent online tuition service offering one-to-one SPM Chemistry lessons to students who live in Balik Pulau, the rural southwest of Penang Island in the district of Barat Daya. Lessons are taught in English, follow the KSSM curriculum, and begin with a paid one-hour trial.
The other side of the island
Balik Pulau means “the other side of the island,” and the name is honest: it lies behind Penang Hill and the central ridge, screened off from George Town and the coast by green highland. This is the agricultural heart of the island, best known for its durian and nutmeg orchards, Balik Pulau is regarded as the home of some of Penang’s finest durians, with paddy and fruit farms spreading out beneath the hills and a traditional Chinese fishing village on the coast where boats still come in at dusk.
It is a quiet, spread-out place that runs on seasons and tides rather than on rush hours, and it feels a world away from the city even though it shares the same island.
Distance over the hill is no barrier
For a Balik Pulau family, the barrier to good tuition has always been the geography. Reaching a centre in George Town means a long drive over the winding ridge road, thirty to forty-five minutes each way in clear traffic and longer at the wrong time, and the town itself has far fewer options than the city side.
Online one-to-one lessons close that gap completely. A student joins an experienced SPM Chemistry teacher from home at a fixed weekly time, no hill road, no evening lost to travel, and gets exactly the same teaching a student in George Town would.
For families out here, that access is the whole point: location no longer decides who can reach a good Chemistry teacher.
Who our Balik Pulau students are
Balik Pulau is a mixed rural community of Malay and Chinese families, many with roots in farming and fishing that go back generations. Its SPM students come mostly from national secondary schools (SMK) and national-type Chinese schools (SMJK) in and around the town, often the same schools their parents attended.
Whatever the school, the paper is the same: SPM Chemistry, subject code 4541, examined in English. We teach in English while keeping the Malay and Chinese terms a student already uses within reach, so an idea such as a mole, a salt or an exothermic reaction is understood from any side and written correctly under time, support that matters for a student meeting exam English in a place where the classroom may lean on other languages.
How the lessons work
Every session is anchored to the KSSM syllabus and DSKP content standards the school teaches, so our lessons reinforce classwork rather than compete with it. We prepare all three papers: the objective questions of Paper 1, the structured and extended answers of Paper 2, and the practical assessment of Paper 3, where we coach planning a fair test, tabulating readings, plotting graphs and drawing conclusions the data supports.
Because Chemistry builds on itself, a one-to-one teacher can return to a weak early topic, chemical formulae, the mole concept, acids and bases, and repair it while keeping pace with current work, then move toward timed practice and precise marking-scheme wording as SPM nears.
Every lesson is taught by one of our own experienced SPM Chemistry teachers. A new student begins with a paid one-hour trial, and regular lessons run from RM50 an hour in a fixed weekly slot.
If you are a parent or a Form 4 or Form 5 student anywhere in Balik Pulau, send us a WhatsApp message with the school, the current grade and the topics that feel hardest, and we will suggest where a first lesson should start.
