Chemistry in a Putrajaya boarding school

Putrajaya is the country’s administrative capital, a planned city on the southern side of the Klang Valley. A student at a fully residential school here lives on campus during the school week and follows a structured routine of lessons and supervised evening study, with family time mostly falling on leave weekends and during the holidays.

Boarders draw their families from many parts of the country, so home may be nearby or several states away. Either way, arranging regular outside help for a demanding subject like Chemistry is not straightforward during term. Because our lessons are online and one to one, the distance stops mattering: a student can join a focused session from home whenever a break in the boarding schedule allows.

One-to-one online, wherever home is

The online, one-to-one format has two practical strengths for a boarder. First, it removes travel, there is no centre to reach and no time lost getting there and back, so a whole hour goes into Chemistry. Second, it is genuinely personal. The teacher works only with that one student, follows their reasoning closely, and spends the session on the exact chapters that are costing marks instead of covering ground the student already knows.

We also keep lessons continuous across the year rather than treating each holiday in isolation. The teacher remembers where a student is strong and where the weaknesses sit, and returns to those threads each time, so effort accumulates through the SPM year.

Aligned to KSSM and DSKP

Every lesson follows the KSSM curriculum and the DSKP content standards, the same framework used in the classroom, so our teaching supports school work rather than pulling away from it. We teach in English, the medium of the SPM Chemistry paper, while supporting the Malay terminology a student already uses, so definitions and explanations can be rehearsed in both. That bilingual footing is useful when a precise definition has to be produced quickly under exam conditions.

Support for Paper 3 and the written papers

Paper 3 is a practical assessment, and marks there depend on the science process skills: identifying variables, recording readings in a well-organised table, plotting and interpreting graphs, and writing a conclusion the marking scheme accepts. We coach these skills directly, and we work through the written papers too, the calculations, the definitions, and the structured questions where careful wording separates a partial answer from a full one. In a one-to-one lesson, the teacher can watch the working take shape and correct it at the precise point it goes astray.

Every lesson is taught by one of our own experienced SPM Chemistry teachers. New students start with a paid one-hour trial so they can experience a real session first, and regular lessons run from RM50 an hour.
