A growing coastal city in Sabah

Kota Kinabalu is Sabah’s capital and largest city, a growing coastal hub ringed by offshore islands and backed by the Crocker Range. A national secondary school here teaches the national curriculum and prepares its students for the same SPM papers sat across the country. As in any city, a student’s day fills quickly with school, activities and travel, and Chemistry is a subject where a student who slips a little in a busy class can find the gap widening quietly over the following chapters.

One teacher, one student, one hour

The difference our lessons make comes down to attention. In a full classroom a single teacher is shared among the whole group, and a student who is easily lost can stay lost for a long time before anyone notices. In a one-to-one lesson none of that applies: the teacher works only with this student, the whole hour is theirs, and a question can be asked and answered the moment it comes up. The teacher watches the working line by line and corrects a misunderstanding as it appears, so small confusions never have the chance to harden into big ones.

Lessons that fit around school and activities

Because the lessons are online and one to one, they slot into whatever the week allows, a weekday evening, a weekend morning, without clashing with the school timetable or co-curricular commitments. Nothing extra has to be driven anywhere; the lesson reaches the student at home, so the hour goes to Chemistry rather than the road, and the booking bends around the student’s schedule rather than the other way round. That flexibility matters most in the exam year, when a dependable weekly hour on the weakest chapters is worth more than a rushed final push.

English for the paper, with Malay terms supported

We teach in English, the medium of the SPM Chemistry paper, so a student practises reading and answering in the register the examiner uses. At the same time we keep within reach the Malay terms already learned in class, so a definition can be checked in either language when time is short and the familiar term becomes a bridge on exam day rather than an obstacle.

KSSM, DSKP and the practical paper

Every lesson is anchored to the KSSM curriculum and the DSKP content standards the school teaches to, so our sessions reinforce classwork rather than compete with it. When the practical paper is in view we coach the Paper 3 science process skills directly, planning a fair test, tabulating readings, plotting and reading graphs, and writing conclusions the data supports. Because Chemistry builds on itself, we close an early gap while keeping pace, then move to timed questions and precise answer-writing as SPM approaches.

Every lesson is taught by one of our own experienced SPM Chemistry teachers. A new student begins with a paid one-hour trial to sit a real lesson, and regular lessons run from RM50 an hour.
