Online vs physical SPM Chemistry tuition: which is better?

A physical group class of fifteen students cannot give your child the attention that one-to-one teaching does, whether that group meets in a shopping-mall centre or on a video call. A struggling student can sit quietly at the back of a physical class for a whole term and never be noticed.

The real comparison, then, is between a physical group class and online one-to-one lessons. In a one-to-one session, every minute is spent on your child’s exact gaps, the mole calculations they keep tripping on, the ionic equations they cannot balance, the essay technique that loses them marks. That level of personalisation is hard to buy in any group room, physical or virtual.

Travel, time and tiredness

A physical class means travel, often after a full school day, in traffic, in the evening. For many families that is two hours of driving and waiting for one hour of teaching. Online tuition removes that entirely. The lesson happens at your dining table; the student arrives fresh rather than drained, and the hour saved on the road becomes an hour of homework or rest. Over a whole SPM year, that saved time is not trivial.

The trade-off is real, though. A student who is easily distracted at home, with a phone in reach and a bed nearby, may focus better in a dedicated centre away from home comforts. Honest self-knowledge matters here: some teenagers work better when they have physically “gone somewhere” to study.

Choice of teacher

Physical tuition limits you to the teachers near you.
